Asad Rahim Khan is a barrister and writer based in Lahore, Pakistan. He is a partner at Ashtar Ali & Rahim LLP, where he focuses on constitutional law, commercial litigation, and international arbitration. He is an adjunct faculty member at LUMS, where he teaches constitutional law, and has been appointed amicus curiae by the Lahore High Court on matters concerning fundamental rights.

He was part of the petitioners’ legal team in Jawwad S. Khawaja v. Federation, the Supreme Court case that struck down military trials of civilians. He also represented Punjab’s elected local governments seeking to complete their tenure after being unlawfully dissolved.

He previously served in the Office of the Attorney-General, where he helped draft the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, merging the Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was also part of the federation’s team in several leading constitutional cases before the Supreme Court involving the Panama Papers, lifetime disqualification, and dissident voting.

He is a columnist for Dawn, and his commentary has been featured on Al Jazeera, BBC, and The Economist. He read law at the London School of Economics and was called to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn. He has clerked for Justices Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Ijaz-ul-Ahsan at the Lahore High Court.
